Research introduction

• Nitrogen is an indispensable inorganic nutrient that is required by plants throughout their life. Root nodule symbiosis (RNS) is an important strategy mainly adopted by legumes to enhance nitrogen acquisition. During RNS, a unique developmental process occurs, where signaling initiated by symbiotic bacterial infection alters the fate of differentiated cortical cells and causes formation of new organs. By using molecular genetic approaches, we are investigating how plants can make the symbiotic organ and the implication of nitrogen nutrient signaling such as nitrate in RNS.
